Assailants who attacked and beat reporters in the days of confrontation must be prosecuted, the Party of Regions said. "The bill on amnesty, now being drafted, says that people who committed violence against journalists will not escape prosecution," leader of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction Oleksandr Yefremov said at a press briefing on January 28.
"Objective investigations must be conducted, exhaustive evidence must be gathered and people involved in that must be prosecuted. If we adopt a document today, investigators could start working tomorrow, I understand. Criminal inquiries have already been started, as far as I know," he said.
