The European Union will not jeopardize the sovereignty of Ukraine and will not exercise control over various branches of the country's economy if the Association Agreement is signed. European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said this at an international conference "The Road to Eastern Partnership" in Kyiv.
He noted that it is necessary to understand very clearly that Kyiv, in accordance with the Association Agreement, has certain obligations, but Europe also has its own obligations. At the same time, he said that the signing of the document does not mean that Ukraine will soon open all industries to Europe. In this regard, the commissioner said that the transition period is required for Ukraine to adapt to new conditions and benefits. He said that if Ukraine feels the negative impact on certain industries, it will be able to use certain tools to protect its own interests. Fule also said that if Ukraine feels the negative impact on certain industries, it will be able to use certain tools to protect its own interests.
