Yanukovych, Obama discuss Syrian issue, Ukraine's European integration
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and U.S. President Barack Obama discussed the situation in Syria and the issue of Ukraine's European integration in an informal conversation at the official reception hosted by the U.S. President.
The head of state told this to reporters in New York on Wednesday, according to the president's press office. “We briefly exchanged information on Syria. I noted that any peaceful solution is always better than any war, even if it is short, because it leads to humanitarian disaster,” Yanukovych said. The president believes it is necessary to look for the ways of peaceful settlement through political dialogue. The head of state also stressed that the sides had discussed the European integration of Ukraine. “I told that we are confidently moving this way and the given information was also accepted,” the president noted.
