Ukrspecexport declassifies outside appearance of new corvettes
Ukraine's state-controlled arms exporter, Ukrspecexport, will showcase for the first time declassified model of the Project - 58250 (Corvette) at the X International Trade Fair Arms and Security 2013 to be held September 25-28 at the International Exhibition Center in Kyiv, the company's press office said in a statement Monday.
"As part of the exhibition, Ukrspecexport's booth first presents a model of the Project - 58250 (Corvette) measuring 1.25 X 0.45 X 0.25 meters. Until recently, the appearance of the ship was classified as "secret", the report reads. Ukrspecexport noted that the vessel is a promising type of corvettes for Ukraine Navy, designed by the Mykolaiv-based State Research and Design Shipbuilding Center. The main ship was laid on May 17, 2011. It can be adopted by the Navy in 2015 at the earliest. The company's exhibition booth will also present a full-scale model of BTR-4, models of MBT Oplot, BT Bulat, Project 958, Kolchuga radars, models of BTR-3E1 and BTR-4, anti-tank missile system Korsar, electro-optic jamming system Adros KT-03 UE and KT-01 AV, automatic grenade launcher AGS-40, etc. The International Trade Fair Arms and Security exhibition has been held since 2004 under the auspices of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in association with the Defense Ministry, Security Service of Ukraine, State Emergency Service and State Service of Export Control. During the exhibition, it is planned to test the military hardware, present products of the Ukrainian defense industry to domestic and foreign customers, hold scientific conferences and seminars.
