This is what Leonid Vardomsky, head of the Post-Soviet Studies Center, Department of International Economic and Political Studies of the Institute of Economics in Moscow said during a Moscow - Kyiv video conference: "The association with the EU or the Customs Union? Pragmatic interests of Kyiv."
The expert believes that Russia should soberly "assess the commitments imposed on Ukraine by the association and a free trade area with the EU - what restrictions it imposes on economic cooperation with the countries of the Customs Union and the CIS as a whole. "It is not clear, it must be declared. The second point is that an agreement needs to be concluded between the Customs Union and Ukraine as an associate member of the EU with the corresponding amendments to the existing current agreement on a free trade area and other documents that govern the relations between Ukraine and the countries of the Customs Union," he added.
