The Verkhovna Rada has amended the Penal Code concerning the order and conditions of imprisonment as 379 MPs voted in favor of the government bill.This document is one of European integration laws necessary for the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The law made amendments to the Penal Code aimed at improving the conditions of prisoners servicing their sentences for a specified period. Those sentenced to imprisonment, who are contained at a social rehabilitation center, are allowed to wear civilian clothes, use the money without restrictions, and valuables, also they are allowed to use mobile phones and related accessories. The Verkhovna Rada has approved in principle a bill on amendments to the Law "On Customs Tariff of Ukraine". The decision saw 365 MP votes in favor. In addition, the Verkhovna Rada voted for putting on the agenda of the session, and sending to the Constitutional Court a presidential bill on making a number of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on strengthening the guarantees of judicial independence. A total of 377 out of the 406 lawmakers registered in the session hall at a meeting voted in favor of the document.
