As Israeli Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Faina Kirschenbaum stated at a press conference in Kyiv, up to 30,000 Israelis and Jews from around the world will visit the town of Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) near the grave of Rabbi Nachman."This year, as we estimate, about 30,000 pilgrims are expected to visit Uman," she said.
The deputy minister said that the Israeli side, in cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities, is doing everything necessary to ensure that this period of Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman goes "smoothly, without any incidents." In particular, representatives of the Israeli security forces are in Uman and "some of them are very closely cooperating with local authorities." A section of the сonsular department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry will also operate in the town around the clock.
