Yanukovych: Kyiv conducting reforms needed for EU integration

20-03-2013 17:07

Ukraine is actively conducting reforms aimed at the modernization of the country and its integration into the European Union, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

He said that Ukraine had been implementing in the last three years the reform program to modernize the country. "Now it's a difficult path and not an easy time. But we're walking this path confidently," Yanukovych saiв at a meeting with U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman in Kyiv on Wednesday. He said that a lot of reforms that are now underway in Ukraine had been developed with the assistance of international experts, including U.S. experts. "We really appreciate this and are grateful for this," Yanukovych said. "The current agenda is full of preparations and settlement of issues aimed at Ukraine's integration into the EU. We hope that we will fulfill these difficult tasks and that the Association Agreement, including the creation of a free trade area, with the EU will be signed at a summit in Vilnius this November," he added.
