Answering a question about Ukraine's choice between economic integration with the European Union and the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union at the Friday press-conference, Yanukovych ruled out Ukraine's accession to the latter, saying Kyiv might opt for an observer status there.
According to him, trade between Ukraine and the Customs Union's member states is estimated at 63 billion dollars while trade with the EU is estimated at around 50 billion. "That's why much will depend on the will of our partners - Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus - to see Ukraine at the same table. They are our strategic partners, but we don't want any discriminatory measures against our manufacturers. We are not so rich to ignore the opportunities of this cooperation," Yanukovych said.
