IMF will issue credit to Ukraine following settlement of gas rates' issue - Alier

IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine Max Alier has said that Ukraine has to solve the issue on gas rates for renewal of cooperation with the IMF on the stand-by program.

“Ukraine has to solve the issue of gas tariffs. Subsidies in the country are ineffectively used. In particular, they are distributed among those groups of population, which do not need them,” the liga.net quotes Max Alier. According to him, negotiations with Ukraine are held normally. “The fact that we have discussed the loan amount can be considered as achievement,” Alier said. As reported, following completion of the IMF Mission, which worked in Kyiv on January 29 - February 12, the Ukrainian authorities have said about the progress in negotiations on the stand-by arrangement at SDR 10 billion (about USD 15 billion).
