The heads of state and government of the member states of the European Union have confirmed their commitment to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement if the state meets the necessary criteria. This is stated in the conclusions of the European Council that ended its meeting in Brussels.
"The European Council reaffirms its commitment to the signing of the agreement with Ukraine, in full compliance with the Council conclusions of 10 December 2012," EU leaders said. The European Council also called for progress as regards the Association Agreements, including deep and comprehensive free trade areas with Moldova, Georgia and Armenia, with a view to their finalization by the time of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November.
