Signing Association Agreement in interests of both EU and Ukraine - French Ambassador

25-01-2013 15:18

“The acceleration of progress leading to signing of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement is in the interests of both Ukraine and the EU”, Ambassador of France to Ukraine Alain Remy said in Kyiv on Friday.

"We support the signing of this agreement, but there are conditions that were very clearly announced by the European side. We believe that the signing of this agreement this year is in our interests and in the interest of Ukraine. Probably during the summit of the Eastern Partnership or perhaps earlier," the French diplomat said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday. Remy expressed the confidence that the parties should move forward, hold an active dialogue that will contribute to the upcoming EU Ukraine summit, which is scheduled for February 25. "We support the summit in Brussels on February 25, we want it to be held, because we consider it an opportunity to meet and talk. This is dialogue, and the dialogue is always needed," the ambassador said.
